Medical disclaimer

The content on this WEBSITE OR APP is provided for informational and educational purposes only. It is not intended as, and should not be used as, a substitute for professional medical, psychological, psychiatric, or other mental health professional advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

The strategies, tips, and information shared here are based on a combination of published research and personal experience. While we strive to ensure that evidence-based information is accurate and up to date, individual experiences with OCD and Anxiety vary widely, and what works for one person may not work for another.

Always seek the guidance of a qualified mental health professional (such as a licensed therapist, psychologist, or psychiatrist) with any questions you may have regarding a mental health condition, including OCD and Anxiety. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you have read on this website.

Use of this website and reliance on any information provided is solely at your own risk. We do not guarantee any specific outcome from applying the strategies described here.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or having thoughts of harming yourself, please contact a local crisis line or call 911 immediately.

In the United States you can also call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or text HOME to 741741 for the Crisis Text Line. Outside the United States, contact your local emergency number.

02

No professional relationship

Using The Wave does not create a therapist-client, physician-patient, or any other professional relationship between you and OCD Wave, LLC. No one at OCD Wave, LLC is acting as your clinician, and nothing in the app is personalised clinical advice, however specific it may appear.

The app is designed around the principles of exposure and response prevention. It will not answer the questions your OCD asks, and it will not reassure you. That is a deliberate design choice, not a clinical judgement about your situation.

03

Who may use The Wave

The Wave is intended for adults aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, please use it only with the knowledge and involvement of a parent, guardian, or treating clinician.

The app is not a crisis service. It is not monitored, nobody reads what you write, and no one will be alerted if you are in danger. If you need a person, use the numbers above.

04

Acceptable use

You may use The Wave for your own personal wellbeing, and you may recommend it to clients, patients, friends or family. You may not copy, republish, rebrand, resell, or create derivative works from it, or attempt to interfere with its operation or security. Full terms are in the licence.

Clinicians are welcome to use The Wave alongside treatment. Doing so does not make OCD Wave, LLC part of your care team, and it does not transfer any clinical responsibility to us.

05

Subscriptions and billing

Every tool needed during a spike is free and always will be. The Wave Plus is an optional subscription that adds voice notes, the soundscape library, analytics, the partner section, and backup.

If the price is a barrier, write to us. We would rather you had it.

06

Your data and privacy

Everything you write in The Wave — your ban book, journal, banned behaviours, ladder, notes and voice recordings — is stored in your own browser on your own device. It is never uploaded to us. We cannot read it, recover it, or hand it to anyone, because we never receive it.

The consequence is important: clearing your browser data deletes it permanently. Use the backup or export features to keep a copy.

We collect no analytics, use no tracking cookies, and show no advertising. If you subscribe, Stripe receives your email address and payment details in order to process the payment; we receive from Stripe only your email address and whether the subscription is active.

One exception worth knowing: if you use the microphone to dictate instead of typing, your device sends that audio to Apple or Google to convert it to text, exactly as the microphone key on your keyboard does. The resulting text stays on your device.

07

No warranty

The Wave is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any content is accurate or complete.

08

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, OCD Wave, LLC and its members shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use The Wave.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to The Wave shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

09

Intellectual property

The Wave, its text, artwork, audio, code and the name "OCD Wave" are the property of OCD Wave, LLC and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. See the licence for what is and is not permitted.

10

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes. The date at the top shows when they were last revised. Continuing to use The Wave after a change means you accept the revised terms. Material changes affecting subscribers will be notified by email.

11

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or your use of The Wave shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
